Kedarnath Pilgrimage Tour

Kedarnath Temple is one of the holiest pilgrimages for the Hindus. Located in the picturesque surroundings of Rudra Himalayan range, at a height of 12000 feet, on a mountain named Kedar; Kedarnath dham is one of the sites of Chardham Yatra and also one of the Panch Kedars. Near Kedarnath flows the Mandakini River that joins another river named Alakananda at Rudraprayag. This place is around 150 miles away from Hardwar and 132 miles north of Rishikesh.

You can travel to Kedarnath only between April to November. Enshrining the Jyotirlingam of Shiva, this temple opens only for 6 months in a year; from the time when the sun enters the zodiac sign of Aries until when the sun enters Scorpio. During the winter season the priests go to Ukhimath, where they worship Kedareshwara.

Tradition has it that while you are on a Kedarnath Yatra, you must first visit the Yamunotri and the Gangotri to take holy waters from the Yamuna and Ganga River to offer prayer to the Kedareshwara.

Chardham Pilgrimage Tour

The Himalayas - the world's most majestic & loftiest mountain chain, is the global heritage of all mankind. The sublime quality of this "Adobe of Snows' has, since time immemorial, inspired the sages & saints of India and has attracted tourists & pilgrims from world over to its awesome beauty & calm serenity. Uttaranchal abounds in places of sanctity where devotees converge every year to pay obeisance to their Gods braving vagaries of weather & other human travails in Himalaya. Closest to the celestial beings, devotees from all corners of the country have flocked to these Himalayan shrines of Char Dham - Yamunotri, Gangotri, Kedarnath & Badrinath yatra every year to seek salvation. The arduous trails remain in the ancient sanctuaries of faith for a fulfilling experience. The four dhams receive holy water in the form of four streams - Yamuna (Yamunotri), Bhagirathi (in Gangotri), Mandakini (in Kedarnath) and Alaknanda (in Badrinath).

The revered spot was once carpeted with wild berries which gave it the name 'Badri Van' meaning 'forest of berries.' Built by Adi Shankaracharaya, the philosopher-saint of the 8th century, the temple has been renovated several times due to damage by avalanches and restored in the 19th century by the royal houses of Scindia & Holkar. The main entrance gate is colourful & imposing popularly known as Singhdwar. References to Sri Badrinath have been made in the Vedas & perhaps it was a popular shrine during the Vedic age also. The Skand Purana gives an accvount of the Adiguru consecrating the idol of Lord Badri Vishal in the temple after recovering it from Narad Kund, in a pursuance of a divine call from heaven. The idol is made of black stone similar to granite.

chaSo holy is the shrine that it forms one of the four prominent places of Hindu worship. The epic Mahabharat, it is believed, was composed in the Vyas & ganesh caves close by. The Vishnu Ganga which later becomes the Alaknanda flows below the temple. Almost 3 km north of Badrinath, mana is the last Indian village before the Tibetan border. The Vasudhara falls are quite spectacular. On the closing day the residents of Mana offer a choli to the deity to cover the diety all the winter. It is taken off on the opening day & its fibres are distributed amongst the Yatris (pilgrims) as a maha prasadam. Joshimath is the winter deity of Badrinath.

Badrinath Pilgrimage Tour

Badrinath was established by Adi Shankara in ninth century as a major shrine. Shankaracharya is considered as the guru who brought renaissance for Hinduism in that era, which was then dominated by Buddhism. His arrival at Badrinath brought a revolution and restores people's trust in Hinduism. With the passage of time, Badrinath has seen significant surge in its popularity with an estimated 600,000 pilgrims visiting in the year of 2006. This is way more than 90,676 in 1961. The most of the tourists and devotees come here to visit Badrinath temple. The temple is a sacred pilgrimage site for Vaishnavites.
The Badrinath temple can also be described as the main attraction of the town. As per legends Adi guru Shankara found a black stone image of Lord Badrinarayan in Alaknanda River. The stone was made of Saligram stone. Initially he enshrined the stone image in a cave that was located in proximity of the Tapt Kund (hot springs). Later in 16th century, the King of Garhwal changed the murti to the present place.
Since then the temple has seen various renovations. Wear and tear forced several modifications and altercations in designs. Kings of Garhwal expanded the temple area by 17th century. In the great 1803 Himalayan earthquake, the temple suffered a lot of damage. But king of Jaipur then rebuilt it.
